Great August fishing Boston Harbor
16. August 2010 by admin.
I returned from vacation a week ago to some amazing August fishing. I was out on the water most days this past week and weekend and each day, the fishing has been on fire. Huge pods of bait throughout the harbor have kept the stripers happy and feeding at all hours of the day. Although the outgoing tide has seemed to produced the most fish, they have been busting the surface at most tides. They have been in multiple areas throughout the harbor, so if one area becomes too crowded with boats (especially on the weekend), there is always another area that will be holding fish. The key is to be patient with the fish though. If they go down, they will be back. It is easy to try to move to another spot were you see birds, but if you stay put in your drift, you are guaranteed to hook more fish. As an example, on Sunday we stayed with one drift most of the morning and even though the birds had moved on, the fish were holding in this one area and we were hooking fish almost every cast without having to move very far. Throughout the week and the weekend, some big fish were being caught. The biggest was a 42" hog that was hooked on Friday morning. It is great to see this quality of fishing so late in the season. I hope that it continues. Let me know if you want to get out there!
Tight lines,
Captain Webb
