Boston Harbor on Fire!

This week of fishing has been fantastic in Boston Harbor. There are lots of fish to be caught and there are some big ones out there. I have been on the water each day this week with charters and each day there have been schools of stripers all over the harbor. The fishing has been so good that even at noon today we were getting fish almost every cast on both topwater and underneath. This morning was one of the best days of fishing I have had in a while. With two good fisherman on board, we started the morning fishing the birds and busting fish and were doing pretty well. As the school moved onto the inner harbor, we stayed put and fished the shoreline and were not disappointed. We spent the next hour catching monster stripers one after the other in 5 feet of water. Another benefit was that not a single other boat was around us! The biggest was a 39” 25 lb hog that was tucked up in the rocks. A majority of the fish were over 30”. We moved from there to another island edge (even though there were schools of fish under birds not too far away) and again were rewarded with tremendous fishing without the other boats. Let’s hope the fishing stays like this for a while! See you on the water.

July Report

The July fishing season in

Boston has been great so far. Over the past few weeks we have brought some big fish to the boat both on fly and spin. Recently, the fishing has actually seemed to be more consistent in the afternoon/evening, although the mornings have been productive as well. Tides have also been a big factor and I have found that the outgoing tide has produced the best results. Find that moving water and there are bound to be fish stacked up in it. The past couple days has brought some interesting fishing conditions. High winds and hot temps have created difficult, but often productive fishing. This past week the fishing was varied day to day, with the evenings being the most successful. I have found that recently if you can get a fly out in this wind, that it has out-fished the spinning gear. I have been busy over the past few weeks and have been on the water about five days a week. The best place to be in this heat is out on the water!
